What's your why?

Everyone has something that they are great at, something that they love. It doesn't have to be fitness related at all. Regardless of what it is, you have to have a reason why you want to do something. Cory Gregory calls this a "Driving Purpose Statement" and this is something that you look back at when you things start getting tough.

Nothing is going to be smooth sailing all the time, but when you have something that goes through your head, why you're doing it, all of a sudden things get easier. The progress you make becomes so much more valuable because it actually means something to you. And you know you are doing it for a greater purpose than just for yourself.

As much as you think that you are doing something for yourself, chances are that you are deep down doing it for someone else. For example, a lot of people want to accomplish great things because they want to provide a great life for their kids and husband/wife. I think this drives people more than anything. If you think about it right now, you want to be able to give your current kids/spouse, or as in my case, your future kids and spouse.
So I recommend you really think about what that driving statement is and the next time things start to get tough, or you hit a road block, let it run through your head. Because I promise that your motivation will become greater than anything! Don't let a tough situation defeat you from doing what you love to do, follow that passion, no matter how old you are. Do what you love and don't look back, do something to chase your dream. Don't let other people or your current situation discourage you from that.
